The thoracic surgery fellowship program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is a fully accredited, two-year program which accepts one new fellow each year. Participation in the National Resident Matching Program insures that the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery are met in the selection process. ERAS applications are required and invitations for interviews are offered to qualified applicants. An applicant is expected to complete general surgery residency training in an accredited program.
As part of the ERAS application, this program requires the following:
- Recent photograph
- Dean's letter of recommendation
- Three letters of reference from faculty
- USMLE scores
- ABSITE scores
Appropriate applicants will be invited for an interview during which they will tour the facilities, meet the faculty, and speak with others in the program. The interview period will begin in early February and will conclude by mid-April.
In order to be employed as a resident or fellow at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, an applicant without United States citizenship must have a permanent or a J-1 visa. A Mississippi medical license is required.
